सूर्यबहादुर थापा प्रतिष्ठान बन्यो, ‘थिंक ट्याङ्क’ को भूमिका खेल्ने

३० फागुन, काठमाडौं । पूर्वप्रधानमन्त्री स्व. सूर्यबहादुृर थापाको नाममा ‘सूर्यबहादुर थापा प्रतिष्ठान’ गठन भएको छ ।

भर्खरै दर्ता भएको प्रतिष्ठानले राष्ट्रिय स्तरमा नीति निर्माण तहमा अध्ययन अनुसन्धानको काम गर्नुका साथै विकास निर्माणमा काममा समेत भूमिका खेल्ने लक्ष लिएको सूर्यबहादुर थापाका छोरा एवं राप्रपा नेता सुनिलबहादुर थापाले बताए ।

‘प्रतिष्ठानले नीति निर्माणको तहमा ‘थिंक ट्यांक’को भूमिका खेल्छ, जसमा भेषबहादुर थापाजीहरु समेत सहभागी हनुहुनेछ,’ पूर्वमन्त्री सुनिलले भने, ‘प्रतिष्ठानको दोस्रो काम भनेको विकास निर्माणमा योगदान पुर्‍याउने हो ।’

यसैवीच धनकुटा क्षेत्र नं २ का सांसदसमेत रहेका सुनिलबहादुर थापाले आफू पिताको पदचापमा अघि बढ्ने बताएका छन् । ‘बुबाले आफू जन्मे हुर्केको ठाउालाई विर्सनुहुादैन भन्नुभएको थियो, धनकुटा काठमाडौं सम्पर्क समाजले आयोजना गरेको कार्यक्रममा थापाले भने, ‘म बुबाले देखाएको बाटोमा अघि बढ्छु, आफ्नो जिल्लामा कसैलाई पनि काखा र पाखा नगरी विकासको बाटोमा लाग्छु ।’

३० फागुन, रामेछाप । रामेछापको मन्थली नगरपालिका १४ भटौलीमा एक महिलाको घर भित्रै जलेर मृत्यु भएको छ ।

शनिबार राति जीतबहादुर सार्कीको घरमा आगलागि हुँदा उनकी सासु ८२ वर्षीया शान्तामाया सार्कीको जलेर मृत्यु भएको स्थानीय छत्र मुग्रातीले जानकारी दिए ।

छोरी-ज्वाइँको घरमा बस्दै आएकी सार्की राति घरमा एक्लै सुतेकी थिइन् । छोरी-ज्वाइँ भने नजिकैको गोठमा सुतेका थिए ।

राति १ बजेतिर घरमा आगो लागेको थाहा पाएपछि स्थानीयहरु भेला भएका थिए । त्यतिबेलासम्म घरमा आगलागी भएर शान्तामायाँको आधाभन्दा बढी भाग जलिसकेको थियो ।

शव जलेको अवस्थामा आइतबार विहान निकालिएको छ । आगलागिको कारण खुल्न सकेको छैन ।

एमाओवादी सांसद ल्हाक्याल लामा गोलीसहित पक्राउ

३० फागुन, काठमाडौं । एकीकृत नेकपा माओवादी सांसद ल्हाक्याल लामा १४ थान गोलीसहित पक्राउ परेका छन् ।

अकुत सम्पत्ति आर्जन गरेको अभियोगमा लामामाथि अख्तियार दुरुपयोग अनुसन्धान आयोगले अनुसन्धान गरिरहेको थियो ।

छानविनकै क्रममा आइतबार दरवारमार्गस्थित इन्भेष्टमेन्ट बैंकमा रहेको लामाको लकर खोल्दा १४ थान गोली भेटिएको अख्तियारका प्रवक्ता कृष्णहरि पुस्करले बताए । उनले भने, ‘बैंकमा रहेको लकर खोल्न ल्हाक्याललाई अख्तियारमा बोलाइएको थियो । तर, बैंकमा पुगेर उनको नाममा रहेको लकर खोल्दा सुनचाँदीको साटो गोली फेला पर्‍यो ।’

गोली फेला पर्न साथ अख्तियारको टोलीले साथमै रहेका लामालाई दरबारमार्गस्थित प्रहरी कार्यालयमा जिम्मा लगाएको छ । उनलाई अहिले टेकु पुर्याइँदैछ ।

लामालाई हातहतियार खरखजाना ऐन २०१९ अनुसार कारबाही अगाडि बढाउने गरी प्रहरीको जिम्मा लगाइएको अख्तियारका प्रवक्ता पुस्करले बताए ।

NASA finds giant ‘bite mark’ on Pluto’s surface

Scientists at the NASA’s New Horizons mission have discovered what looks like a giant “bite mark” on Pluto’s surface.

Researchers suggest it may have been caused by a process known as sublimation — the transition of a substance from a solid to a gas.

The methane ice—rich surface on Pluto may be sublimating away into the atmosphere, exposing a layer of water—ice underneath, NASA said.

The NASA image shows the cratered plateau uplands informally named Vega Terra, far in the western hemisphere of Pluto.

A jagged scrap, or wall of cliffs, known as Piri Rupes borders the young, nearly crater—free plains of Piri Planitia. The cliffs break up into isolated mesas in several places.

Cutting diagonally across the mottled plans is the long extensional fault of Inanna Fossa, which stretches eastward 600 kilometres from there to the western edge of the great nitrogen ice plains of Sputnik Planum.

Compositional data from the New Horizons spacecraft’s Ralph/Linear Etalon Imaging Spectral Array (LEISA) instrument indicate that the plateau uplands south of Piri Rupes are rich in methane ice.

Scientists speculate that sublimation of methane may be causing the plateau material to erode along the face of the cliffs, causing them to retreat south and leave the plains of Piri Planitia in their wake.

Compositional data also show that the surface of Piri Planitia is more enriched in water ice than the higher plateaus, which may indicate that Piri Planitia’s surface is made of water ice bedrock, just beneath a layer of retreating methane ice.

The surface of Pluto is very cold, the water ice is rock—like and immobile.

The light/dark mottled pattern of Piri Planitia in the left inset is reflected in the composition map, with the lighter areas corresponding to areas richer in methane — these may be remnants of methane that have not yet sublimated entirely.

The image measures about 450 kilometres long by 410 kilometres wide. It was obtained by New Horizons at a range of about 33,900 kilometres from Pluto, about 45 minutes before the spacecraft’s closest approach to Pluto on July 14 last year.

The LEISA data was gathered when the spacecraft was about 47,000 kilometres from Pluto.

‘Ramayana’ to be made into an English film

The story of “Ramayana” has been told and retold through TV series, movies, cartoons and animation films multiple times but now three young filmmakers are adapting the classic in English to cater to the global audience.

Directors Vineet Sinha and Sean Graham with Creative Director Ronnie Allman from the US want to recreate “Ramayana” as they feel Indian mythological stories need to be told to the world.

With the help of latest technology, the makers claim the film is going to be at par with Hollywood movies like “Lord of the Rings” and “Planet of the Apes.” “Hollywood, Japan and China make and market their stories such as Batman, Superman, Star Wars and Pokemon to the whole world. But Indian stories are not as well known,” Mr. Sinha told PTI.

Director Sean Graham says they want to narrate the tale of “Ramayana” in 3D and Imax.

“Considering India’s most expensive films cost about USD 25 million, so for making ‘Ramayana’ the cost would be twice of that. We need studio level support to make that possible.”

For Vineet and Sean, the biggest challenge is to balance the expectations of the audience both in India and abroad.

“We want this film to appeal to the fantasy action adventure audience who will watch ‘Lord of the Rings’, ‘Planet of the Apes’ We are also making sure people at home (India) don’t feel too distanced with our portrayal,” Mr. Sinha said.

According to Ronnie Allman, creating the mythological era would be a huge challenge.

“Creating a world that is thousands of years old means heavy designs. We have to make sure we are keeping true to the time, while also adding our own spin on things. The biggest challenge has also been the most fun to figure out. How do you get a Rakshasa (demons) to fly in the air after being hit by Hanuman’s gada (mace),” he added.

The story of “Ramayana” has been narrated to audience several times but the director duo insists the portrayal of ’Hanuman’ and ‘Ravana’ will be exciting for people to watch.

“We believe he (Ravana) was a very wise, rational, caring, creative, strict and humorous ruler. We see his ten heads as ten human characteristics that everyone possesses,” Mr. Graham said.

Mr. Sinha thinks the portrayal of ‘Hanuman’ (Lord Ram’s devotee) will excite everyone the most.

“He is a blend of expertly crafted prosthetics with very light CGI (computer generated imagery),” he adds.

The duo are looking forward to cast mainly Indian actors and shoot it in English. The movie will be dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, French and several other Indian and global languages.

“We want most of the key cast to be Indian, while characters like ‘Hanuman’, ‘Angad’, ‘Kumbhkarna’ should be whoever can pull off the complexity of having motion capture, prosthetics, and CGI the best,” Mr. Vineet said.

The makers are looking to raise Rs 50 lakhs by crowdfunding on Wishberry.in soon.

Sonakshi Sinha enters Guinness World Record for nail painting

Actress Sonakshi Sinha has become a Guinness World Records title-holder as she along with several other women participated in an initiative to set a record for ‘most people painting their fingernails simultaneously’.

The 28-year-old actress participated in the event on the occasion of International Women’s Day on Tuesday.

She collaborated with Inglot, manufacturers in colour cosmetics, and its Indian franchise partner Major Brands.

“I am extremely thrilled to have been a part of this unique initiative on Women’s Day. Achieving a Guinness World Records title is truly commendable and I would like to thank Inglot and Major brands for giving me the opportunity to create history along with thousands of other women,” the “Lootera” actress said in a statement.

At the event 1,328 women were seen simultaneously painting their nails with a range of Inglot O2M nail enamels.

The women broke the previous record of 1,156 people painting nails simultaneously which was created by Taiwan Nail Association at Banqiao Stadium, New Taipei City, Taiwan on April 27, 2011.

Jack Brockbank from Guinness World Records was present at the event to validate the record.

Zbigniew Inglot, the company’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, said, “It is wonderful to have achieved the Guinness World Records title in India for Inglot and Major Brands India.”

“Engaging with thousands of women through this initiative has been exciting for the brand. We look forward to creating new milestones and building a stronger connect with our consumers in India,” he said.

ओली सरकारको आयुबारे प्रचण्डले मुख खोले, कांग्रेस र देउवालाई धक्का

यद्यपी प्रचण्डले सरकारबाट जनताका पक्षमा प्रभावकारी काम नभएको भन्दै ओली सरकारप्रति असन्तुष्टि पनि पोखे । उनले प्रधानमन्त्रीको चीन भ्रमण भारतसँगको परनिर्भता हटाउन केन्द्रीत हुने जानकारी दिए ।
