POKHARA: Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen Organisation (GAESO) has demanded details of the Gurkhas who were disappeared while fighting on behalf of British government in the two world wars.
At a press conference, GAESO Chairperson Padma Bahadur Gurung demanded that Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs provide factual details about the Gurkhas to their families who were still uninformed of the whereabouts.
He shared that an information request was made at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in line with the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking comprehensive status of the missing Gurkhas – whether they were dead or still alive and even if dead, when and where they were killed.
Journalist Hum Gurung said that the widowed family and helpless children of Gurkha ex-servicemen were deprived of their rights and entitlements though the formers had laid down their lives in the first and second world wars.
