KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested two persons in possession of two pieces of red panda hides from Swayambhu of Kathmandu, on Tuesday.
The suspects have been identified as Lok Bikram Lama (30) of Mahankaal-8 and Prem Lama (27) of Shikhar VDC-3 of Kavre. Both of them are currently residing in Kathmandu.
Police said the duo were nabbed when they were heading to sell the contraband. A motorcyle that they used has also been impounded.
According to police, one Chandra Rai had reportedly bought the hides for Rs 200,000 two months ago from an unidentified seller, and handed them over to the duo to find prospective customers fetching higher rates.
Police said they have handed over the suspects to the Kathmandu District Forests Office for further investigation and action.
